Confocal training consists of two sessions:
Session 1 is offered on Monday and Friday mornings beginning at 9:30 a.m. and lasts 3 hours.
This session is comprised of a theory lecture so that you will be able to rationalize your imaging setup. This portion can be up to an hour long, but may be shorter if you have a good understanding of fluorescence and confocal microscopy principles.
The second part of Session 1 takes you through the general operation of the microscope, Optical Imaging Facility etiquette, and operational software. You will then set up and operate the microscope on your own in the remaining time.
Session 2 must be taken within a week of the first session. This is your “solo” session where you will set up and operate the instrument on your own.
NOTE:
It is very important that you have a good representative sample to image.
Do not request training more than a week in advance of regular usage. Regular usage means at least once a week for a month.
